Pottery

Hello, I'm Sue.

I live near Winchester, Hampshire and have been making pots for the past nine years.

I've always loved art and wanted to try my hand at pottery. After my first session at the wheel I was hooked and started classes. What began as a weekly hobby has grown steadily and now I'm happily making pots from my small garden studio.

I love every stage of the process, from the way the clay feels as it takes shape, the quiet focus of trimming and glazing and the excitement of opening the kiln to reveal the finished pieces. I hope you have as much joy from them as I do.

Glaze Combinations

I like to make pottery that’s decorative as well as functional.

I use brush-on stoneware glazes, layering or overlapping them to create different effects. The main gaze combinations I use are in the link below.

No two pots are the same because everything is done by hand. This means there will be slight variations, giving each pot its own character.

Wall Hangings

I love making ceramic beads, which I use to create wall hangings.

The beads are suspended from driftwood using natural flax twine.
